Quarantine...and chill?

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

Nowadays, the words virus, illness and disease are nearly part of us everyday. The word Coronavirus is one of the most searched in google if it is not the first one (yes, believe me). We are all worried about our lives and families and alcohol, gel and mask became our best friends. A lot of countries put a lockdown and no one knows how long it is going to take. In that way, we start missing our social life.

Ignorance is bliss someone told me once but is fiddly to get away from the news.

The question is: Have you ever thought about taking advantage of the Quarantine time? Have you ever said you want to do some activities but your time is not enough? I'm convinced that the answer is yes. We are always on a rush. We got priorities such as our job, money, meetings, etc. Don't you have that feeling?

Then, we forgot those little things that don't cost money but worth a lot.

Therefore, the purpose of this article is to provide some ideas to profit your free time and avoid boredom.

1. Get in touch

At the moment, we all use and enjoy Social Networks. But, do you think are you using them correctly? When was the last time you spoke to your relatives? If you are not close to each other, it is the right time. Call them. Get new updates. Tell them how significant they are in your life if you haven't done it in a while. It's going to draw a smile on your face if you are miles away from home.

2. Go back to your hobbies

Are you into cooking? Music? What about history?

YouTube offers loads of tutorials about cuisine from all over the world same as interesting documentaries or movies about history. Did I mention music? Oh, yes! If you are a big music fan. There are many people uploading tutorial about guitar, bass, keyboard. Have you got an instrument at home? Then, the ball is in your court.

Moreover, I recommend you to take a look at lyricstraining. It is an amusing webpage with song lyrics you have to complete if you choose one. Text your friends and make a bet. It's available in various languages.

3. Learn a new language

By the way, do you ever think about how sexy french sounds? Or the importance of german in Europe?

These days, websites like VHS (the best known german public school) is offering free german courses for people who want to learn the language. It comes from the very basics until the upper intermediate level. As well as TV5 monde which provides an online french course to the ones attracted to the language.

On the other hand, apps like Duolingo or Babbel are an excellent option to be considered.

4. Read a book

Imagine a cosy evening sitting on a sofa or bed with comfortable clothes, a soft blanket and a warm drink.

Now, think about the same scenario with a book or audiobook which was always on your list but the time to read it (or hear it) was not enough. Then, it's time for yourself. Forget about everything and let your brain getting into a fascinating story for one or two hours. openlibrary.org and Wattpad have captivating books and everything for free!

5. Make a schedule

Last but not least, I want to end this article mentioning the word organization. At this time, you may have on mind a lot of ideas about what to do in these days. Therefore, making a schedule is a great idea. Choose some activities you would like to do twice or three times a day and others for the rest of the days. Get a calendar and write them down. Do you prefer apps rather than papers?

I recommend downloading Wunderlist or todoist. There are suitable for a little task or big work projects. Plus the reminder alerts and the possibility to collaborate with other users which will make your life easier and organized.

Do you have some ideas on mind? Don't hesitate to share them!

Stay safe!
